Commonwealth Games - Tuvalu

For inquiry, we started a project about the commonwealth games. For our task, we had to pick a country that is competing in the commonwealth games and find out information about the country. This is how mine came out.

Cadbury chocolate factory - Persuasive Writing

Cadbury chocolate is a well known famous brand. The Cadbury chocolate factory is known for having their rich, sweet and smooth creamy chocolate. It’s a tragedy to say on Thursday March 29th 2017 the Cadbury factory closed due to the issue of money. The reason why the Cadbury factory is closing down is because in Australia the factory is way cheaper.

I strongly believe that the Cadbury chocolate factory should stay in New zealand, not only because it's what we are known for, it’s because of the history that has happened throughout these past years. Another reason I don't want the Cadbury chocolate to go is that they might change the recipe so it won’t taste the same.

In Addition, another con is that the people who worked there lose their jobs. In New Zealand that is a big problem. Did you know that there are more than 900,000 people unemployed. We did not need a much loved chocolate factory to close its doors on the workers.

Lastly, I think it’s really important for the Cadbury factory to be in New Zealand because our chocolate was originally made in New zealand and has had a 150 year history. The Australian's keep stealing our things. In New Zealand, I think we need to make our own things, because there’s always things that get sent from other countries to New Zealand.

Tapa Cloth Reflection

For maths, we are learning about translation, rotation and refelxtion through tapa cloths. These were my results:

Are you pleased with your accomplishment? Why / Why Not? I am because I like the way it looks and I liked the process in making it.

 2. What were some of the most interesting discoveries you made while working on your Tapa Cloth? About the task? About myself? Surprisingly, I learnt that when bleach goes on dye it will turn white. Successfully my tapa had reflection, rotation and translation, which was my goal after completing this task.

3. What were some of my most challenging moments in making my Tapa Cloth and what made them so? After when my dye was dried, I had to bleach to make some details white. The challenging bit was when I had to go in the detail and I would try not to bleach on the brown dye. Later, luckily we could fix up the mistakes with some brown dye.

 4. What would you do differently if you were to make a Tapa Cloth again? Make sure the designs are more detailed.

 5. What / who helped you with your Tapa Cloth? At the start we ruled 3 by 3 cm squares to help us with the designs. At the end, thankfully we could dye over our mistakes.

 6. What could you modify / alter on your Tapa Cloth? If I made another design my Tapa would look more bold and outstanding than it already is.

 7. What aspect of your Tapa Cloth are you most proud of? My favourite part of my tapa is my design, it’s not really bold but I like that it shows rotation and reflection
