Zoo Recount

On Friday 31st August, we went on a trip to the zoo. The first animal we saw were the otters. They were very small and cute. The otter’s area was very spacious and beautiful. In the Tiger's area, they were doing construction on the place to make it more entertaining for the animals and people. Later, we went into a gate and saw lots of Australian animals like the kangaroos, wallabies and the tasmanian devils. After that, we stopped for a little snack and watched the alligator.  After morning tea, we went into the classroom to find Polar bear and Lion skins. The man (Fraser) told us that the polar bear died because he was growing mould on him due to the temperature in Auckland.

Even though Polar bears are supposed to be living in cold weather, in Auckland it is very very Hot. That's how the mould came, so they decided to put the polar bear down. We got to touch their skin to feel what they felt like. He also showed us a real live kiwi egg in an incubator. After this, we headed to the NZCCM, (New Zealand, Centre for Conservation Medicine). It was a pet lab, where they helped out animals from the zoo and rescued animals too.

In addition, while we were looking around, stopped to eat lunch. While we were eating lunch, we were watching the elephants play around and eating its food. As we were on our way to the african animals, we saw were the lions. The lions were sitting and resting.

Overall, the Zoo trip was pretty cool. My Favorite bit was when we went through the meerkat tunnel. It was pretty short but worth it. I hope next time when I go to the zoo, I could explore more and visit the newly constructed areas around the zoo.
